In 2023, the music ofJonLordand Deep Purple will be celebrated in Brazil by Bruce Dickinson and Paul Mann at four performances of the Concerto For Group And Orchestra and more.
Jon Lord’s Concerto For Group And Orchestra was first performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with Deep Purple and conducted by Malcolm Arnold at London’s Royal Albert Hall in September 1969. The piece was revived for its 30th anniversary in 1999, and Jon Lord would perform it numerous times during his later years as a solo artist. In 2011, he recorded a completely revised studio version of Concerto For Group And Orchestra conducted by Paul Mann with Bruce Dickinson on vocals.
InBrazil next year, the shows will feature onstage an 80-piece symphony orchestra assembled especially for the occasion with members of OSESP (Symphony Orchestra of the State of São Paulo) and some of the country’s main symphony groups.
